Biography: Alexander Stovbur (15 May 1943, Omsk, Russia - 4 June 2019, Odessa, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, and author of works of monumental art. Honored Artist of Ukraine. Received art education at the Odessa State Art College (1967-1971). Launched his creative and exhibition career in the 1970s. Took part in informal '' apartment '' displays in the 70s; participated in unofficial exhibition '' Contemporary art from Ukraine. Munich-London-New York-Paris '' (1979). In the 70s-80s worked in the field of easel and monumental painting, graphic design. Since the late 80s took part in exhibitions of contemporary art in Ukraine and abroad. Member of the Union of Artists (1987), member of the creative association '' Mamay '' (1998), Honorary Member of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Lived and worked in Odessa, Ukraine. Works of Alexander Stovbur are stored in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Museum of Modern Art, Khmelnytskyi Museum of Modern Art, Ivano-Frankivsk Art Museum, in the collection of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, in Norton Dodge's Collection, USA , in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
