The Agbê xequerê is a hand-held percussion instrument originally from Africa, it arrived in Brazil together with the slaves and although it was forgotten for many years, it returned with great force thanks to the Maracatú that was born in Pernambuco, now it is used in all kinds of Brazilian music and a large part of Cuban music, as well as in many other countries and musical genres.
It is mainly made from natural sun-dried pumpkin and açai seeds.
Its sound is very wide and its handling is very versatile, it can be used as a companion along with other shakers and small percussion instruments or dance it and make it shine with "güiro touch".
It is a unique and original instrument, since being made entirely by hand with natural products it is impossible for there to be two identical agbês in the world.
