This collection will include works with different themes, styles and techniques that surely have nothing in common except to inspire admiration for their beauty (for me!) And to feel free to paint, think and feel them.
This particular work does not need much explanation ... When one of my friends shared it on Facebook, he caught me immediately. First it was only the face, the hair, and of course the look. Although it's not a very common term for me, I thought ... Bella! Then I realized the whole, naked torso: "Bella y Valiente". And I thought about how many tears will not have spilled those eyes that do not need voice to speak. How many times have you not caressed that face while trying to find your true "I" in front of the mirror. The word "Pride" should have photographs so illustrating their meaning. For me it is the triumphant result of a hard battle that unfortunately does not end in a beautiful photo or in a portrait of it ... but it is a beginning. In a few years all this talk will be unnecessary because I believe that society is moving more and more towards a world where heterosexuality will be treated as an option ... which in reality is what it is, not an obligation. Each one should choose theirs with freedom and live it without social pressure and without censorship.
It is not the first time that I carry out a "like this" picture: about freedom. My daughters whenever they see something that goes out of the ordinary they ask me, "Can that be? And the answer is yes". They are too small to talk about sexuality, but old enough to understand feelings, which is what it is all about: love and respect. They understand it, respect it and know that they will have the freedom to choose.
I must thank the talent and originality of the Italian photographer Verónica Lombéz, who has allowed me to paint her work, which, I have no doubt, came out of her heart. This photo is the result of a project I have been waiting for for some years now. I invite you to listen to the song "Who Am I?" By Peace Orchestra, which gave the title to the photography of Verónica Lombéz and this painting, which I have heard several times while painting this work as a connection. A way to close the circle.
