The Yisus Work is a Work of contemporary sacred art. It represents the Crucifixion and Ascension of Jesus Christ. In this work I was interested in the most representative symbols of these two allegorical scenes, representing the arrow in the side of Christ, the crown of thorns and also the ascension itself towards a night sky, towards a universe beyond the blue skies on the mountains. clouds so widely meanings throughout art on how Paradise is interpreted in Christian culture.
The halo of light on Jesus' head also serves as a transition between the two scenes as an iconic element of holiness and also as a meteoric element, dazzling as it erodes as it breaks through the earth's atmosphere to go beyond.
But where are the arms?
Without an initial intention, I realized as I was sketching the work that the arms were not a particularly relevant element despite the iconicity of the figure forming the cross that we all have in mind when we bring this image to our minds. Not only did they not seem relevant to me, but they also prevented the transition to the Ascension scene, in which I look for a reverse meteor shape, ascending towards the stars, that shape was as important as the previous one and in this way, avoiding the arms , I could get both glimpses in the same visual impact so that each could make any of the two scenes prevail.
