Organic and tactile sculptures
What motivates me is the transformation of something initially masculine – the tree – into something feminine. I turn trunks and roots of local trees, which have been through time and the elements, into unique sculptures. Working in a magical setting in an olive grove in the Marina Alta, Spain, I am fortunate to be able to fuse art and nature in perfect harmony. Each piece I create is a true encounter between the raw material and my intuition. I keep its form as original as possible, which gives each sculpture a unique soul and story. All my works are made from a single piece of wood with bark, which is first debarked, then shaped, sanded, polished and treated with linseed oil to reveal all the natural beauty of the material. It is patient and meticulous work, but also a profound exchange with nature and with the piece itself. |
