Summary of the original work
Sizes: 41 cm wide x 61 cm high.
Year: 2020
Legend has it that Parténope was a beautiful woman, so beautiful that the goddess Aphrodite was jealous of her, because of this, she acted transforming her into half human, half fish. Some time later the young mermaid fell in love with Odysseus, when she found out that he would pass by the Gulf of Mermaids in his ship, she went to the place hiding it from her sisters to be the only one to sing to Odysseus. He knew of the captivating and deadly song of the sirens, therefore, Odysseus decides to sacrifice himself and orders his companions to tie him to the mast and to put plugs in his ears. Upon reaching the Gulf, there was Parténope, beginning to sing knowing the risk she was running, exhibiting herself before that strong adventurer. If a mermaid sings to a human and he does not fall into her arms, the creature dies, and this is what happened, as much as Parthenope sang to Odysseus with all the love she felt, it did not seem to work, little by little her song was losing strength and turned into moans, until finally passing away. Her lifeless body was dragged to the shore of the Gulf of Naples, where the fishermen collected her and buried her with honor, later creating a temple in her name.
