The UVAS project arises from the need to work in the search for our iconographic identity. The vine has been a key element in the agrarian and social development of the Ebro Valley, so working on this concept seemed to me to be a coherent way of relating my work to the landscape and natural environment of the riverbank.
The Grapes project arises from a photographic fieldwork, a search for the uniqueness of the vine varieties that are grown in the area, working on the different tonal varieties that they offer in their different stages of maturation, as well as in the different times of the day.
The idea of tackling the same concept over and over from different strategies is interesting, each time generating a new approach based on different compositional criteria and tonal harmonies.
I work on large supports conceiving painting as an organic work of stains and gradients, forcing the contrast between light and shadow and exploring the chromatic limits of oil. I am attracted to the idea of representing elements typical of photography such as blurring or the vision that macro lenses offer through painting.
This project aims to work the vine, commonly used in figuration, from a current perspective, taking the still life to a state of greater abstraction and color.
