Summary of the original work
Year: 2019
On many occasions, the human mind can interpret images that cannot be captured with the camera. Sometimes we have a hard time differentiating between reality and imagination. Therefore, when I create my photographs I try to merge the two concepts mentioned above. That is, I enjoy playing and combining physical objects with mental interpretations. The aim of my work is for objects to be recreated in the images to become a different version of themselves.
In the world of photography there is a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case we will say that a picture is worth a thousand dreams. My purpose is that in “The Workshop of Dreams” it is not necessary to give titles to my photographs, but I would simply like the viewer to observe, reflect, and free his mind when contemplating the work. I consider that since these are images of surreal dreams, titles could cause a distraction by guiding the reader through his thoughts.
The definition of the concept of surrealism written by André Breton could be a great definitive clarifier of the objective of the project. It says: “Surrealism would be the psychic automatism by which the author intends to experience the real functioning of thought in the absence of any control exercised by reason and outside of any aesthetic or moral concern.”
Canvas dimensions: 130 x 100 cm.
Printing: 12 Giclée pigmented inks. And varnished for preservation.
On 390g matte Cotton Artist Canvas material.
Limited run of 20 canvases + an author's proof
