We believe to live free in the present and yet we are conditioned, bound, inhibited by memories. These memories, imprinted in our brain, are manifested in our lives in the form of ghosts. We believe to see reality when in truth we only see images of our memory. You have to defy those ghosts! See what is real and what is the product of our fear of disobeying prohibitions. We can not be a complete adult if we do not abandon those childish phantasms. These inner specters tell us at every moment: "Life is dangerous, watch out, run away, do not face it as it is, disguise it!" And this is how most of us, out of fear of the world, transform it into illusions, with lies, drugs, superficial activities, sleeping consciousness. A. JODOROWSKY.
