Summary of the original work
Dimensions 40 cm wide x 30 cm high.
Year: 2023
Let me introduce you to my recent work, "La Ola de Bastiagueiro". This painting is another link in my series of free interpretations of great works of art history, in this case, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. However, this version is a hybrid of tradition and modernity, combining influences from the art of ukiyo-e, the aesthetics of modern surfing, and the maritime life of the Galician coast.
"La Ola de Bastiagueiro" is a combination of the techniques of impressionism, minimalism and psychedelia, immersing the viewer in a whirlpool of emotions, which fluctuate between admiration for the beauty of nature and fear at its immense strength.
The protagonist of this work, the surfer, symbolizes the human spirit, defiant and daring, facing the giant wave. In contrast, the small boat in the corner, inspired by the boats on the Galician coast, suggests the fragility of man in the face of the greatness of the sea. As an old Galician adage that has been incorporated into the work says, "O da lanchiña morreu eo neto still vai surfar...", reflecting the inevitability of change and the continuation of life despite adversities.
The maritime landscape is rendered in vibrant tones that capture the dynamic energy of the sea and the surfer, while evoking the tranquility of coastal life.
Finally, for those looking for a mystical connection, I have included a series of discrete lines and shapes that suggest hidden presences, inviting a deeper and more personal interpretation of the work.
This work is available for purchase, with offers starting at over €1.000. The final decision will be made taking into account both the price and the person who will be the future owner of this magnificent work. There is no set deadline, the balance between the desire to share this work and the financial need will determine the end of the auction.

Summary
Title: "The Wave of Bastiagueiro"
Summary:
"La Ola de Bastiagueiro" is a bold reinterpretation of Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa", fusing Japanese ukiyo-e with surf culture and Galician coastal life. The defiant surfer and the fragile Galician boat in the work symbolize the contrast of human courage and its fragility in the face of the immensity of nature. Including an old Galician adage, "O da lanchiña morreu eo neto ainda vai surfar...", the inevitability of change and the persistence of life are highlighted. Embellished with vibrant tones that capture the energy of the sea, this work is available for purchase, with offers starting at over €1.000, assessing both the price and the future owner of the work.
