Summary of the original work

Mixed Media on Canvas
Sizes: 150 cm wide x 75 cm high.
Year: 2011
Ready to hang
MAREAS IX, is part of the exhibition project "Great tides, small swells", presented by the artist and art historian Pepa García Pardo in the text "Sew and paint or the joy of shipwreck". This composition is characterized by black and white strata, combining the vision of the waves, the beach and the bottom of the sea as a frieze.

The sea has been a recurring motif in art and, above all, in painting. Ships and boats have been represented since ancient times. But the navy only began to become a genre towards the end of the Middle Ages, and had a special development in Europe between the 17th and 19th centuries. Many painters have dedicated an essential part of their work to the sea. This composition, together with the others in the series is the result of an inevitably current interpretation of this tradition.
