"Stone and dog: Pip" is a "Petable Sculpture"* made of 100% natural stone.
*Caressable Sculpture is a concept that I have created and consists of leaving the stone completely unpolished, without painting, enamelling or varnishing, just natural stone. It needs to be nourished with aloe oil from time to time depending on the type of stone and finish. When you caress it to nourish it, you contemplate the beauty of the stone.
Pip is a sculpture of a dog or stone dog. This has many advantages: it weighs little, 800 grams, you can carry it in your bag or pocket, it does not bark, it does not pee or poop, it does not eat or waste, well it only needs, from time to time, that you pet it with a little aloe oil.
It is absolutely ecological and has a very long history, not as a stone dog, but as a stone, its shape and composition has evolved over thousands of years. He probably lived near the Arroyo Jaboneros, very close to the beautiful city of Malaga, in Spain. At first it was a great rock, it watched the years pass by thousands, without flinching. Men and animals went up to it to scan the horizon and it met generations and generations of men. From here the story becomes a little blurred, some say that Uri, son of Uro, hit it with another stone until he managed to break a large piece, from there he patiently carved tools that he needed to dig, cultivate, cook... In the end one of those stones broke and Uri threw it into the stream and, with the passage of another thousand years, it ended up reaching the sea, there it rubbed against other stones with the force of the waves, until a sculptor He saw it on the beach, picked it up, contemplated it, analyzed it and carved Pip, which was bought over the internet and cared for for thousands of years by the children of the children, of the children... of the descendants of Uri.
As you can see, Pip is a unique stone that was collected by Roberto García López at the mouth of the Jaboneros Stream in January 2024.
