A big part of art is being a creator and not losing your childhood. In those first years of life the child creates, without limits and without major obstacles, he reproduces what satisfies him, what he likes, both in play and in drawing. He represents his demons by trapping them on a sheet of paper or different materials and expresses his desires and interpretation of the world. In the game he can be a creator of characters and worlds.
Imagination gives you the magic necessary to make that which is not there exist. Perhaps this is where the greatness of humans comes from, being able to represent the non-existent or modify it. From a young age every child is a little bit of a god because he is an artist. That is why art is also, on many occasions, one of the divine powers that some believe they continue to have. It explains fears, desires, conscious and unconscious fantasies, even those that do not yet exist on the real level. This is where the magic of every artist lies, who like a child and a god can create, modify, dream and make it exist in his work. There is no more sublime act than being able to abstract and create, because ultimately that is culture and we are filled with it. Jorge Matheus was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After completing his studies at the National School of Fine Arts, his artistic desires lead him to experiment, learn, be inspired and move around the world. Leaving his native country, he landed first in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and then traveled to Paris, where he lived for almost 3 years. During his stay there he was involved in different projects always in connection with art and starring in exhibitions with his works. After his experience in France, he settled in Madrid, where he began to work in the publishing world, illustrating books, working as a graphic designer and, as an artistic exploratory form, working with photography. His works are or have been exhibited in Brazil, Portugal, France and Spain. His journey is palpable in him and in his works, offering a mix of colors, cultures, trends and styles. It shows free and unpretentious art, it does not judge, it does not educate, it does not try to denounce or raise awareness among the viewer. Rather, it tries to summon those who look, provoking, if it occurs, an impact. That which impacts the person who looks and makes it their own, converging the expression of the artist with the subjectivity of the viewer. That is the production of an artist who uses various techniques and materials and who transmits his idea on canvas, book, in digital format using even recycled material.
