As you read the title, you know that my inspiration for this one came from Escher. I love what he did. His shapes, his figures, just all, but I needed to ad color!
The faces used on this painting (50x60cm) are from Dana International, the Eurovision Song Contest winner since 1998 & Conchita Wurst the Eurovision Song Contest Winner since 2014. Dana she is a Transsexual and Conchita she's a Travesty. What the differences are is that being a Transsexual means that the person have had an operation and changed their body, while the Travesty means, it's just a way of dressing differently.
I think in the world there still might be some confusions about that subject. With this painting I would like people to open up their eyes more. And after accept and leave anyone the way they want to be! I am sure that the gay world is a much colorful one than the real one, most of the time.
But there's also a lot of hate, hate towards those being and acting different. To me it is like if those haters are saying I hate color. And living life in black and white is not an option in my opinion. I placed a fish with a tale of a human like foot, which as you count has six toes. People have been asking me why? My answer is, why not?!
Things are how they are, we're not able to change all things. If we would have six toes, we could cut one of them, because all of our own five were on each foot. Sometimes changes need to be made. So if you want to make a change, first take a look in the mirror before judging others! Live, let live and live color!

Through Escher's Eyes, Accepting Differences and Transsexuality
By reading the title, you will know that my inspiration for this came from Escher. I love what he did. His shapes, his shapes, everything, but he needed to add color!
The faces used in this painting (50x60cm) are of Dana International, the winner of the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest, and Conchita Wurst, the winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Dana is transsexual and Conchita is a parody. The difference is that being Transsexual means that the person had surgery and changed their body, while Transvestite means that it is just a different way of dressing.
I think that in the world there may still be some confusion on this topic. With this painting I would like people to open their eyes more. And then accept and leave everyone as they want to be! I'm sure the gay world is much more colorful than the real thing, most of the time.
But there is also a lot of hate, hate towards those who are and act different. For me it's like those haters saying I hate color. And living life in black and white is not an option in my opinion. I placed a fish with a human-like standing tail, which according to accounts has six fingers. People have been asking me why? My answer is, why not?
Things are as they are, we cannot change everything. If we had six toes, we could cut off one, because we all have five on each foot. Sometimes changes need to be made. So if you want to make a change, first look in the mirror before judging others! Live, let live and experience color!
