Elena Sierra "Kelsie" Cantabrian artist born in 1985 in Santander, Doctor in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country.
I defended my doctoral thesis in June of 2016 with "Analysis and Experimental Development of the Pictorial Creative Procedures in the Representation of the Look", under the direction of Iñaki Bilbao Delgado, without forgetting the contribution of the professor Julián Irujo Andueza both in the thesis and in Teaching I obtained the Extraordinary Grade / Master Award with a postgraduate degree in "Professor of Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching", by the University of Salamanca at 2012. I studied the Master "Increarte" of Research and Creation in Painting, of access to the Doctorate and I am a graphic designer by the academy Vinsac, Santander. I participated in the IV Painting Workshop Masters of Figuration in 2009 guided by Antonio López and Juan José Aquerreta in the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and in 2007 the XX Course of Landscape of the School of Plastic Arts of Priego de Córdoba . I have collaborated with Abigail Lazkoz accompanied by a great team in the realization of the mural "130.000 years of last tendencies" of the exhibition "Chacun à son goût" in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 2007 / 2008. I obtained an honors degree during my time at the IES Santa Clara de Santander between the years 2001 / 2003, receiving a notable influence from Roberto Orallo. In my artistic career I have enjoyed different selections and recognitions focused on artistic creation. I have obtained the 2º Prize of the Fifth Contest of Art of the Hotel Carlton of Bilbao in 2015, with the work "Hellen Waiting", one of the outstanding ones within my artistic production. I expose individually and collectively in Spanish geography and my work is represented in different private collections mainly, and my creations are understood between figuration and abstraction, the dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious. Rozo surrealismo, counting on an outstanding symbolic load and inside the drawing an enchanted reality is appreciated and the abstraction of organic lines. I orient my professional future to various individual exhibitions for this 2017, monographic, with samples that are composed of poetic charge and solidarity or social background, encouraging to recover the meaning of life and how are the ideas that help us to remain active in this world. I am currently preparing these events in new places on the peninsula. |
