I am an emerging Venezuelan artist, and I reside in Uruguay since 2015. I have little more than eight years working in the development of my pictorial work, which I had the possibility to sell in Venezuela, both in galleries and individuals. I have also participated in three collective exhibitions.
Contemplaciones de Sofía is a series that I have been working on since 2017. It is a heterogeneous project, where the figurative and the abstract are present, with elements related to surrealism or symbolism. In this series, I reflect personal studies I have done on some myths, legends of Latin American folklore or even historical figures. I have particular interest in female characters; These interpretations sneak into my works and meet others, closer to our times: a Van Gogh that is an incarnation of primal chaos or a "kiss" alluding to that of Klimt, but starring a young Core and a Hades, king of Underworld. The link between the painted figure and the mythological characters is found as one more glare, although the title gives the clue that seeks to arouse curiosity, allude to that other psychic universe. |
