Juan Páez (1973) Colombian artist, lives in New York. With an academic training in plastic arts, research in the workshop and semiotics, he has investigated from his trade in the practice of drawing as a way of knowing the natural and social environment and producer of signs. His work shows a visual variety between the figurative, expressive and abstract through illustration. Drawing as an idea and traditional craft as well as watercolor have been the permanent forte.
It should not be left aside, and this is how Páez understands it, that the production of visual signs from the practice of drawing is an effect incorporated into experience (embodiment) that is multiplied in the craft and conscious and preconscious experimental exploration. His plastic research revolves around graphic practice as a way of perception and representation of the different forms that the artist appropriates in the environment from particular spaces such as the idea of line, the vegetal, the world of insects. He always tries in his proposals to motivate and achieve the aesthetic experience of the viewer. |
